Saturated Canary - Honey

Hi blogging friends. Well it's almost midweek and I really just don't know where the time is going at the moment.

Hope you had a lovely weekend and managed to get lots of crafting done. Unfortunately I didn't manage any. Saturday was all chores and Sunday I was with Brandon at a swimming gala.

Yesterday Leonie and I went out and bought a new Christmas tree. We decided that the old one had to be replaced because  Brandon is now taller than it. We went for an 8ft one, that way no matter how much more growing he does he'll never be bigger than this one! Were hoping to decorate it tomorrow once hubby has put the lights on it.

My card today uses one of Krista's amazing digis called Honey. It's for a friend's daughter's birthday. It should suit her down to the ground, because she loves dance but she's also a bit of a Tomboy too.

I've followed the sketch over at Saturated Canary Challenge and coloured the image with Copics. It's lovely to watch these images come to life as you colour them, even if they do test your shading techniques.

The image has been mounted on  a nestabilities floral oval shape, these are just so pretty, and the design papers are by Raspberry Road. Some of the flowers are a recent buy from Live & Love Crafts and they're so pretty. I've coordinated the inside to match too.

Slam Dunk...

Good Evening Bloggers...

I know I've been a very bad blogger recently, but there just seems to be so much going on that crafting and blogging are having to take a back seat.

I have a card to share with you today that's for my son's birthday next week. I don't think he'll look at my blog - facebook and twitter are far more exciting than my little old blog.

It's a great image for a teenage boy and suits him just perfectly. If he's not swimming (which is most days) then he's playing basketball at school in lunch break.

Here is my card using Mo Manning's 'Slam Dunk' and a great sketch from CLP Challenge.

I've coloured the image with copics and distressed the edges of my papers using vintage photo.
The papers are Raspberry Road - Cowboy Cool.

Here's a close up of the image.

I used Doo Hickey flags and Tim Holtz Typeset dies to create the name banner at the top. The stars were made using Die-namics stacking stars dies.

Here's a last look to show the 3d effect .

Maddie

Good Evening...

Nearly the weekend....

It's back to work for me next week and I haven't done half the things I wanted to get done. I've been full of a cold the last few days. Why do we always get ill when we're on holiday ??

Today's card is another of Krista's lovely Saturated Canary images. I know it's a rather wintry image and I'm so looking forward to spring, but this is for a friends birthday and she used to be an International ice skater, so it suits her to a tee. Brown and turquoise are her favourite colours too.

I have used this weeks sketch from the Saturday Sketch Challenge (#194) to base my card on.

I have been playing around trying to shade and create the folds of her skirt...a bit more practice needed I think. There are some great videos on youtube. It's fantastic that these very talented ladies take the time to share their skills. It's very much appreciated.

Here's a close up.

And a side view. I have dyed the turquoise flowers myself and am quite pleased with the outcome, although they don't look quite as bright in real life.

Queen of Hearts

Good Afternoon,

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

I've had quite a lazy weekend apart from the washing and trying to get to grips with some of the techie aspects of blogging. Have been trying different ways of photographing my cards, but have come to the conclusion that the house is quite dark and I may have to purchase a light tent and some daylight lamps.

I'm afraid it's another Saturated Canary image. The next one will be something different I promise.

I made this for my hubbies birthday. Tried not to make it too feminine and I'm not sure if I like it, although I do love the image.

I used the Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die which I think could end up on a lot of my cards for men.

Here's a close up of the image.

I had to laugh because my kids all thought that she was a little too raunchy for Dad! They're usually the ones that are shocking me :)

Secrets...

Good Evening,

It's been very cold here today...brrrrr.. I shall be switching my heated blanket on tonight. Damn the expense.

I just can't seem to get warm. They're forecasting warmer weather after the weekend. Just hope they're right. I'm can't wait to thaw out

Tonight I have a card for you that I made for one of my very best friends. I actually bought it specifically with her in mind.

It's another one of Krista's lovely digi stamps from her Saturated Canary Etsy site. I told you that I loved them...I make no excuses...I think I may slowly have to acquire them all...he he.

Anyway onto the card.

I have used the leaves die LR0156 from Marianne design Creatables. I love the skeleton effect of these leaves.

Each half term my friend and I meet up for lunch and catch up. There's always lots to talk about and occasionally the odd 'secret' too. Looking forward to next weeks chat :)

Here's a close up of those lovely Wild Orchid Craft flowers. I've got some white ones that I want to try and colour up myself. I'm going to follow Bev's video tutorial. Watch this space.

Sweet Sixteen

Good Evening...

I can't quite believe that I'm finally writing my first post. I'm a little nervous, but also excited.

This is a card I made for a friends' daughter who was sixteen last month.

I have used one of the lovely images by Krista Smith at Saturated Canary. I have only recently discovered Krista's art work and love her digi images, so you can expect to see a few more cards with these cute designs on.

Sorry about the quality of the photo. I've not quite mastered this yet.

Here is a close-up of the image. They're great for teenagers.
